The Pulse 31/05/2019 – Significant New Technology Launches Announced

May 31st, 2019

Round up:

It’s been a week of new technology launches that enable better UAV flight control and inspection, and market forecasts have been released in the Asset Integrity sector predicting strong growth into 2024.

This week in UAV Inspection:

A new market intelligence report by BIS Research, the “Global Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Market – Analysis and Forecast 2019-2029“, reports that the global UAV market was valued at $25.59 billion in 2018 and is expected to reach $ 70.28 billion by 2029. A high growth rate is driven by the usage of UAVs for beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) operations and the need for transferring large amount of data in real time.

This morning DJI announced Manifold 2, a major update to its compact onboard supercomputer for drones. The supercomputer will enable the next-generation of autonomous aerial robotics. Read the full release here.

UAV inspection data is going to be stepping it up as Teledyne Optech Introduces UAV-Lidar Solution. Users can achieve crisp, survey-grade data for asset inspection applications, including powerline and transportation corridor mapping. Read the full release and see visual image samples here.

This week in Asset Integrity:

The industry goes mobile as Metegrity announces the launch of VisionsGo, a new mobile technology for asset inspections management. The tool is specifically designed to improve the collection, dissemination and securing of asset integrity / inspection data. Read the full release here.

Oceaneering International suffers a slow down in their Asset Integrity division, as the segment’s revenues totalled $60.7 million, lower than the year-ago figure of $61.3 million. The company cite high costs as a reason, and the full release can be found here.

Another round of news releases concern the publishing of the Global Asset Integrity Management Systems (AIMS) market research report for the years 2019-2024. Read the full report here.
