Scope of Work

Air Control Entech visited an FPSO in the North Sea to perform fugitive gas detection.

Solution

Completing a full platform gas detection sweep is time consuming and expensive. FLIR cameras are typically the sensor of choice and the survey normally involves someone walking around the full asset to identify and leaks.

ACE deployed the ACE-A-M300_OGI; an M300 RTK with bespoke Optical Gas Imaging payload to perform a full asset sweep without the need to carry bulky and heavy equipment around the platform and was able to easily access multiple locations throughout the asset which would have been typically problematic for traditional methods to access.

No unexpected gasses were found during the survey. Data was displayed and recorded in real time in front of the client representative then handed over electronically prior to demobilization.

Results & Benefits

  • Access to at height locations inaccessible with hand held OGI devices .
  • Large data set delivered.
  • Data collected much quicker than if done by walking the platform.
  • Safer than traditional access methods.
  • Project delivered successfully under given time frame.
  • Additional aerial shots of vessel provided to client.
