A Scottish technology company is launching a generation of drones that it believes can help to lower the cost of inspecting oil and gas facilities.

 

Air Control Entech has been working with the Oil and Gas Technology Centre in Aberdeen on the development of the unmanned aerial vehicles. The centre is a not-for-profit institution established in 2016 with £180 million of funding from the Aberdeen City Deal. It hopes to help bring forward a new generation of technology for use in the oil industry, as well as anchoring new businesses in the northeast of Scotland.

The functions offered by the Air Control drones have been designed after consultation with industry. There will be live video streaming, an ultrasonic testing option that will provide repeated readings…
